First, I want to congratulate you wanting to empower your children financially and by that, I mean realizing that they must learn how to make, manage and multiply their money wisely in order to experience the best that life has to offer.
Every day we're faced with financial decisions, financial news, financial challenges and financial wants and needs. Your children come against more and more pressure from their peers and society to have this or own that, look like this or look like that. It's no wonder parents are sometimes lost when it comes to figuring out the best way to teach their kids how to manage their money properly, all while being a good human being at the same time.
Now you'll be able to prepare them to make, manage and multiply their money wisely. It MAY actually save you money in the long run because when your children learn to make and manage their own money, they are less likely to ask you for the extra money many children ask (or beg) their parents for on a regular basis. They are often more appreciative of the money they make on their own, as well.
And if you're wondering how I learned this, here's the story...
When my own son, Andrew, now 25 and doing well on his own, was about 15 years old, I had given up trying to figure out what he wanted for Christmas. I had decided a couple of years earlier that since he seemed to like clothes, I'd simply give him a 'gift certificate' for $100 worth of jeans or shirts or whatever he wanted.
This particular Christmas we were at the mall and we'd been shopping for a couple of hours when I got frustrated and handed him a $100 bill. He looked at me and said, "What?" I said, "Here. Buy whatever you want. I'm going to go find a nice bench and just wait for you."
Well, do you know what he did? He put the money in his wallet and explained quite peacefuly, "Oh, let's just go home. I don't really want anything anyway."
I was dumbfounded by what I had just learned, and the lesson stuck. The fact is that most kids would rather spend YOUR money than THEIRS. And herein lies one of the secrets to the Ultimate Allownace System...put them in charge of their own financial life as soon as they are ready so by the time they graduate from high school, they know what it takes to be 100% responsible for themselves financially.
Heavy sigh...oh, what a relief it was.
Our Schools are Not Teaching Our Children Valuable Financial Skills,
SO IT'S UP TO US TO TEACH THEM ABOUT MONEY.
Most parents I talk to feel that financial education should be one of the critical life skills our kids learn in school. That, and parenting and communication and gender dynamics, to name just a few.
But the fact remains...our kids AREN'T learning about money and personal finance in school and even though financial literacy is a very hot topic these days, and some legislatures are working on figuring out how to make it mandatory, for the most part, it's still an elective.
Worse yet, did you know that...

Many parents find The Ultimate Allowance because they have trouble talking to their kids about money. Some parents say they'd rather talk tot their kids about sex or drugs than money. My system makes it easy to do talk to your kids about money. I even give you the actual words to use when introducing your kids to this unique allowance system.
Other parents find The Ultimate Allowance because they are fed up with their kids asking them for money all of the time. I make it so there's no reason for them to ask. And if they DO ask, I give you the words to get them to take responsibility for their choices.
If either of these situations ring a bell, you are not alone. Parents everywhere are looking for an effective way to teach their kids how money works.
Here's a testimonial from a woman who, like me, is passionate about teaching kids about money...
Amanda van der Gulick |
“Until I read Elisabeth’s book I was completely AGAINST giving an allowance to kids as a way for teaching them about money, but since reading her incredibly easy-to-understand and implement ‘The Ultimate Allowance’ book, I have opened my mind to the idea of allowances. The thing I like most about Elisabeth’s method is that she shows how easy it can be to have the expenses that we spend on our children anyway, go THROUGH our children. They now get the responsibility of paying for their own expenses, which opens their eyes to what exactly it costs to raise them. I think this in itself is priceless, not to mention all of the other extraordinary tips, tools and advice she so freely gives to us in her book. Thanks Miss E for opening my mind to the possibilities!”

The Ultimate Allowance helps you prepare
your children for a life filled with
financial freedom & security.
The Ultimate Allowance is a unique and creative financial literacy tool that all parents can use with their kids. As long as you're spending money on them already (supporting them), you can implement and empower your kids using The Ultimate Allowance.
I realize that you may not think you have the tools you need to teach your kids about money.
I know that sometimes it's hard to talk to your kids about money.

I understand you weren't given a magic wand to empower our kids financially.
Well, I've discovered are three essential keys to raising money-savvy adults. And if you want to know these three keys, read on...
Would you agree that preparing your
children to live life on their own terms
means
they need to understand how to make, manage and multiply money wisely?
May I ask you ...
Q. Have you ever wondered how to teach your kids about
money so they really get it?
Q. Are you frustrated trying to get them to understand the "value
of a buck"?
Q. Would you like a way to get them to stop asking you for
money all the time while teaching them how to be completely 100% responsible for their own financial matters by the time they are 18 and move out on their own?
If you answered Yes...The Ultimate Allowance system is your answer. |

"Wow, I loved your book. This simple system can make any kid a financial success (and don't tell anyone, but I learned a lot too!" Dawn H.

The Ultimate Allowance System turns your kids into money-savvy adults.
It gives you the tools you need to make sure your kids move out and stay out when they're ready....except for visits of course!
My name is Elisabeth Donati and I want to tell you how happy I am that you found this page. Your child's future, and your own, may just depend on it. And here's why...
As a whole, our nation's children are not learning about money. There are a lot of teachers, parents, seminar leaders and others trying to fill in the pieces but no one can teach your kids like YOU can because no one cares like YOU care! And if you're like me, you WANT to make sure your kids grow up and get to live a great life; whatever they want their lives to look like. And great lives usually take a substantial sum of money and income these days. |
Why I wrote The Ultimate Allowance
When I was 38 years old, I realized
I didn't know much about money. At age 31, I married a wonderful man who earned a good living. I was a personal trainer and fitness instructor and I loved helping people improve their
health. I adored making a difference in people's lives.
But I didn't understand the money thing...until,
one day when my husband and I had paid off
thousands of dollars of debt and we shared one of those ah-ha moments.
We had a conversation that went like this:
ME, "What do we do with this extra
money now?"
HIM, "I don't know. What do you think we should do with
it?"
ME, "I don't know, you're the man, you're supposed
to know what to do with it?"
HIM, "I don't have a clue (and he was 48 at the time!)"
We both said, "What are we going to do now? Who do we call?"
At that point, I called my mom and asked her why she hadn't
taught me about money and you know what she said? In an apologetic voice, "How could I teach you something I
didn't know?"
All of a sudden it made sense. And you know that
saying, when the student is ready the teacher appears? Well,
his name was Robert Kiyosaki and the book was Rich Dad
Poor Dad.
Reading Robert's book was just ONE of the many huge ah-has I have had since then. That book
changed my life; actually it changed how I SAW my life.
You see, when I was young, I watched my mom and
dad argue about money. He would spend too much and she'd get
angry because it forced her to use coupons, buy things
on sale and go to garage sales.
Now there's nothing
wrong with these things...IF YOU WANT
TO WORRY ABOUT MONEY for the REST OF YOUR LIFE!
Creative Wealth Principles Your Kids Can Grow By
If you want your children to grow up financially free,
you have to teach them to use their money wisely, invest
it so that it grows and create passive income streams so
they can work because they want to and not because they
have to; and teach them that doing good in the
world is an awesome thing!
I never had a chance to learn these things...until
I turned 40 years old and someone put that book in my hands.
Do you know those times when you hit yourself in the head
and say, "Jeesh, why didn't someone teach me this stuff
when I was young?" I did that so many times I think I put a permanent dent in my forehead. The good thing though was that I never felt stupid; I just realized I was never taught this amazingly powerful information. I learned I had to learn it myself.
For a period of time, I was upset. I had been
a straight A student in high school and college, but the fact was,
going to school, getting good grades, going to college and
getting a 'good' secure job just didn't
cut it. Add to this that many of our teens don't
ever make it to college and another group doesn't even
finish high school! What about them? They need to learn Financial Intelligence more than ever.
So, I turned my anger into action. In 2002, I created my first Money Camp for Kids, a
FUN summer camp that taught kids and teens all the stuff I
never learned when I was that age. The camps are now called Camp
Millionaire and are being taught around the US and Internaitnally.
Adversity is the mother of invention!
After years of questions from parents
about allowances, and researching what the 'experts' had to say, I developed my own system that was completely different than the other allowance methods people strugged with.
Congratulations! You have just uncovered one of the most amazing parenting tools ever...read on.
We have to start preparing the next generation to handle money
wisely. But more than this, they need to start learning how to 'think' about money in a whole new way. The economy is changing. Things are getting more and more expensive. Our kids aren't going to be able to get 'good, secure jobs; there will have to be a different way to make a living.
Let's teach kids to grow up and be the CEO of their own lives.
Let's teach them to start their own businesses, create their own incomes, be in control of how much money they make, decide when they go on vacation and more.
Let's teach them see opportunities as ways to build businesses.
Let's teach them to 'see' money differently...not as a GREEN substance
to buy piddlyjunk but as a tool to reach their dreams!
If you want a program that will help you do this...I have just the thing!
The Ultimate Allowance System makes sure that your kids know what to do with their money when they leave home. I guarantee if you do nothing, this won't happen.

You may be thinking, Ya, right...another allowance program. If you're like most parents I've spoken to over the past 6 years of putting on Money Camps for Kids and Teens (now called Camp Millionaire), you've tried several different ways, maybe many, to get your kids to understand the value of money and what to do with it. From the stories I've heard, thought, most of those attempts have failed. At best, they have been partly effective in teaching kids how to be responsible with money, both theirs and yours.
ALLOWANCE STORIES FROM PARENTS...
A couple of years ago I asked the adults in my Money Camp database to send me stories about their allowance experiences. I have put several of these stories in the book for you to read to see what others have tried.
Here's one success story sent to us recently:
Hi, I'm a mother of seven and I homeschool. Our oldest is
in her third year of college. In her last year of school,
I got an idea to help her learn to budget. We figured out
how much all of her needs were for each month - clothes, feminine
articles, hair, hygiene, even entertainment (hanging with
buddies). Once a price was set, that's what she had, when
it was gone there was no more until the next month.
We have 6 more at home. We have made it a practice never
to just give the kids money or just buy something spontaneously
just because they see it. So what I've done is created job
opportunities for them. I have a job board with various jobs
listed, requirements, and time limits as well as pay. If they
are interested, they have to be interviewed. For example:
The storage room was a mess - The job was called "Storage
room organizer" - some organizational skills required,
the job required at least 4 hours of work, paid $10.00 one
time. We even have a librarian now to keep the books in our
classroom in order. This job pays $5.00 a week. The board changes
periodically, but there's always a job for someone. Even the
4 year old.
This has helped tremendously, as they understand when
they are on a job, it has to be done properly or NO PAY!!
Each week the kids are checking the board, especially
if they've seen something that they'd like to buy.
It's a great way to teach them work ethic and financing. |
Here's one not quite so successful!
We tried to dole out allowance and it was too difficult
to keep track of the process. My husband thinks that doing
chores is part of living and participating in family life.
The children should not receive a financial reward for daily
tasks.
We tried to tie the allowance to non-chore related things
like finishing homework without complaints, adding bird seed
to the feeders without being asked to do it, getting all the
morning, school related papers/lunches/sports gear in the
car without being nagged...those sorts of things. Then we
had to create a payment schedule that was balanced and appropriate
to the task. This was so difficult. Both kids (girl 11, boy
9) felt that their contributions were more important thus
due more money. Ugh. |
There's a lot more stories in my book from parents who have had zero to great success teaching kids about money. And here's some endorsements and testimonials from successful adults in the financial literacy, entrepreneurship and personal growth field who love The Ultimate Allowance system...

In the six years I have been delivering financial programs for kids, teens and adults, I have talked to tons of parents. Every parent asks the same sort of question...
"How do I get my son or daughter to understand the value of a buck?"
and
"How do I convince them that money doesn't grow on trees "
What I noticed was some common parenting mistakes happening in regard to money. I noticed three things that parents were doing (or not doing as the case may be) that kept them from the results they were searching for, i.e., fiscally responsible children who managed their money and didn't continually beg for more.
The Three Biggest Mistakes
Many Parents Make with Their Kids |
FIRST: They set a poor example. Many don't do it intentionally...they just don't know how to save and invest wisely themselves. Also, anyone notice that our BIGGEST role model does the poorest job of all at setting a terrible financial example for its citizens? |
| SECOND: They don't talk to their kids about money. They keep the family finances — saving, investing, debt, budgeting, etc.— a secret from their children so they have no idea about it. Kids learn about their parents financial situations through what they see, hear and experience in regard to money as they grow up. You MUST talk to your kids about money from an early age. This is the only way we're ever going to break the 'taboo' that money has in most cultures. |
| THIRD: They don't give their kids much of an opportunity to practice with money. It's like your child coming up to you wanting to play softball but you never give him or her a ball, glove or mitt to practice with. Oh, and never giving him or her the rules to the game! |
Lead to...
The Three Simple Keys to Raising Money-Savvy Adults |
FIRST: Set the best example you can. Remember that your children are watching, listening and experiencing everything you do, say and feel about money. |
| SECOND: Talk to your kids about money. Involve them in the family finances — saving, investing, debt, budgeting, etc.— Let them know that this is an essential part of life and it's best to learn it young. |
| THIRD: Give your children every opportunity you can to practice with money in a way that's relevant, mindful, educational and lesson-packed. |
Imagine Your Kids Living Financially Free
What would that look like? How will you feel knowing
your kids are taking care of themselves financially and making enough money to help others and maybe even support be able to support you at some time if you really needed it? Don't laugh...there's millions of adults who are going to need it!
Creating a financially successful adult is something to be proud of! But most parents need help doing this.
So here's how it works... |
You take the money you're already spending on them: for clothes, shoes, movies, gifts for friends, hair cuts, etc. and you...
Run it THROUGH them instead!
It takes between $175,000 and $280,000 to raise a child from 0-17. What if your child had just a portion of that to practice with? Wouldn't he or she get good at it?
It works like this...
If they don't get experience with money now, when are they going to get it? If they leave home to work or go to college and don't have a clue, guess what? They will more than likely end up in some serious financial mess until they turn 35 when someone, if they're lucky, invites them to a financial seminar where all of a sudden they realize they don't have a clue. I want to change this situation and I need your help. |

The following is a disturbing post I found
on the internet in August 2007. I as looking for statistics on
the growing trend of college suicides due to rising debt. I put
it in the book so that readers could get an idea of how painful
this situation really is for our young adults:
A Disturbing Post from a College Student!
I'm a college student who's being 'pursued'
by credit card debt. I have no income, no assets (I do have
a car, whose value was $500 when I got it 2 years ago) and am
living in my mother's basement - though I will be moving to the
house of a friend in a month.
As of now I only have my college loan money to pay my bills,
and not nearly enough to take care of the credit card bills.
I'm pretty sure I'm judgment proof, but I have no idea how
that will help me when my mother is being harassed by phone
calls whenever I'm not home.
I've been dealing with it well for the past month since I attempted
suicide in June (on my 21st birthday, of all days) after a
breakdown over money, but I'm starting to get to that point
again. I can't afford a lawyer, my parents are going through
a divorce so they are unable to help, I have no other family
members with income, and I'm taking care of my partner who's
been unable to find work for 2 years.
I live in Michigan, where we currently have the highest unemployment
rate in the country. I had a job for a while, until I was told to work a day through my classes or I would be fired - like
an idiot, I quit. I can't quit school without then adding
my college loan payments into the equation.
I guess my biggest question would be - how the hell do I
get through this without another suicide attempt?
Don't let this be your child!
|
I emailed this young man to offer suggestions but never heard back.
I still wonder if he's alive.
If you're confused about what to do, you may be reluctant to try yet
another idea. Can I persuade you?
I CAN show you a way that works. But here's the thing...you have
to willing to do your part. I'm not saying it's going to be easy.
Raising kids seldom is. There are the trials and the tribulations
and the lessons; but there's the joy and the laughter and the learning
and the celebrating. There's the feeling good part you get to have
when you know you did great job raising your kids!
With The Ultimate Allowance...
 |
You don't need to spend hours
arguing with your kids about money anymore. |
 |
You don't need to keep track of what they're doing with
their money. If they run out, they run out. Period. End of story! |
 |
You do need to practice unconditional support and learning
to be firm when they're learning a lesson they'd rather not
be learning. |
 |
You will need to learn how to use the system at first.
I promise it will be worth it. |
 |
You don't even need a single idea of your own. It's
all laid out for you in the book! The hard work is all done! |
 |
It's going to take a few hours to read and digest this
system but all you have to do is follow the directions in the
book. |
Isn't raising children into adults who are happy, healthy,
wealthy and wise worth the effort? Nothing in life comes without
a little effort and, from my experience, my best work has come from
my best effort. After all, wouldn't it be nice
if kids grew into adults who didn't have to recover from their childhoods?
I think so!
The Ultimate Allowance
System is a
sure-fire way to raise financially free adults.
It's turns kids into smart little money managing
machines!
It
prepares kids to move out and stay out.
No arguing, no yelling, no victims.
Sure, you'll have some hiccups but that's part of parenting. Kids
are kids and, as such, they will do their best to throw you curve
balls.
Do just what the book says and you'll be fine. And, if you still need
answers, send me an email and I'll help you personally!
"Give a kid a fish and he'll eat for a day...
but teach
a kid to fish and he'll eat for a lifetime."
These are some of the lessons your kids will learn with the Ultimate
Allowance System...
 |
She'll feel empowered when she learns to be responsible for paying for her own needs and wants. Preparing for when she's older can be very easy if she develops supportive financial habits. |
 |
He will have money to start thinking about investing. This is one of the major 'missing pieces' in many financial education programs. Children are taught about saving but not about investing in assets that will produce passive income for them. |
 |
She'll learn that saving to purchase an item she really wants isn't as difficult as it may seem at first if she uses a system, and that it feels great when she does reach her savings goals. |
 |
He will always have money for continued education. |
 |
She is less likely to develop the habit of feeling guilty for spending her own money; an emotion many adults have shared in our adult programs. |
 |
He will understand the joy and importance of giving back and helping others so that when she has a lot more money than she needs each month, she will want to do great things with it because she has experienced this from a young age. |
Bottom line, if your kids are going to cost you money,
you might as well use it to your advantage...give them the OPPORTUNITY to learn first hand how to make,
manage and multiply THEIR money wisely.
Let them learn the lessons before they move out;
before it's so painful they can't recover from it; before they mess
up so badly you don't have any choice but to let them move back
in so they can get back on their feet.
Imagine how your grown child would feel if they had to do that. Let's help them never
have to do that.
